TOUR ITINERARY

DAY
1
Tbilisi to Kazbegi and back

We set off early along the legendary Georgian Military Highway as it winds north into the Greater Caucasus. Our first pause is at the Ananuri fortress, its churches mirrored in the turquoise Zhinvali Reservoir, before we climb to the Friendship Monument, perched on the edge of a vast mountain panorama. Reaching Stepantsminda, we change into a 4x4 for the rough, thrilling ride up to the 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church, which stands utterly alone against the snows of Mount Kazbek. After a long lunch with the mountains in full view, we make the scenic return to Tbilisi by evening.
