Step inside the UNESCO-listed Gelati Monastery near Kutaisi, founded by King David the Builder. Marvel at its golden medieval mosaics and frescoes, once the heart of a famous academy known as “a new Athens.”
Stroll the seafront boulevard of Batumi, Georgia’s vibrant Black Sea resort, where Belle Époque facades meet bold modern towers, subtropical gardens and a buzzing café culture.
Beyond Batumi rises green, rainy Adjara — the Gonio fortress on the coast, the arched bridges and waterfalls of the Machakhela valley, and the mountain villages of the Goderdzi Pass.
Stand before Vardzia, the astonishing 12th-century cave city of Queen Tamar, carved across thirteen levels into a mountainside. Explore tunnels, chapels and frescoes that once sheltered a whole community on the road through Georgia’s deep south.
Breathe the pine-scented air of Borjomi, Georgia’s famous spa town. Drink the naturally carbonated water straight from the source in the central park, then explore the vast forests of the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park.
